Detroit Arts International

What We Do

Detroit Arts International's current work involves workshops for schools and the community. We organize concerts of classical African music, ranging from solo recitals to large scale works. We bring experience of education from early to postgraduate; of African music business planning and delivery and an understanding of the role African music and dance and modern technology can play in enabling people to achieve their potential and through this to make a positive contribution to their families, community and the country.

We bring information and direct assistance to artists and organizations in Michigan and beyond. Our teachers are accomplished musicians and dancers, ready to make their services and facilities accessible to all. On site visit, awareness training and consultation are offered to any organizations on a fee for service basis.

DAI works with American and African teachers who are forward thinking and fully committed to the development of performing groups. The New Africa Chamber Orchestra of Detroit (NACOD) is one of our innovative ideas. The instrumentation of this Chamber Orchestra consists of kora double harp-lute, mbira thumb piano, balafon xylophone, aprepensua bass thumb piano, djembe palm drum, atsimevu drum ensemble, from drum ensemble, etc. We encourage the community to engage in its educational programs, to eventually become members of this unique Chamber Orchestra.
