The Detroit arts International will promote a series of lectures, Lecture performances, workshops, live concerts and Seminars that will feature one of Africaâs most Renowned composer Nana Danso Abiam(founder/director of The Pan African Orchestra) whose works are a clear Illustration of qualitative developments taking place the past forty years within African music Composition history.

His realization of The Pan African Orchestra in 1988, Combining for the first time , traditional instruments From differing ethnic societies on the continent of Africa, is still a novelty far ahead of it's time.

This historic achievement is documented in prestigious books such as the garland encyclopedia of world music (vol.3 africa), and the Cambridge history of 20th Century music, just to mention few.

It will also feature Isaac Kwame Awuku and Kweku Kwakye and The Abuakwa African Music and Dance Ensemble, whose first tour in North America was very successful. Abuakwa led a series of lecture performances and workshops in Schools across the state of Michigan and Canada Covering various aspects of African music and dance History.
